Birthday Boy

Today is Ash’s birthday. Happy birthday, Babe! I’ve already made him his chocolate birthday cake. It’s cooling and I’ll frost it after the kids go down for naps. (It’s just too dangerous to have chocolate frosting and two-year-olds together..)

We were at @pplebee’s on Sunday evening when Ava told two ladies sitting at the booth behind us, “In a couple of days, it will be my father’s birthday.” Well that day she announced that daddy needed a Grover cake. Luckily, a regular chocolate cake is now fine with her, which is a good thing because I can’t imagine what kind a stain blue food coloring could make.

The first birthday I spent with Ash he was turning 20. That seems like it was long ago, maybe because it was! Sixteen years later, I thank God for all the years we’ve had together so far, and pray for many, happy more.

Love you. Happy Birthday, Ash.

Flower Girls

This week over at I ♥ faces the theme is “wedding bells”. I know I’ll get blown out of the water by the other photographs because more than half the participants are professionals who do weddings all the time. However, this is my chance to show off my friend’s cute daughters, so whatever. I went to the wedding of one of my best friends, and her nieces were the flower girls. I like this shot because most of the time the girls were pretty aware of when a camera was on them, but in this photo, they were talking during the bride and groom’s first dance. I feel like I caught them telling each other a little secret or something.

I’m sure there are some really terrific wedding pictures (and who doesn’t love a good wedding photo?) over at the I heart faces site. Check them out if you have time.

Where Do They Learn These Words

This morning I took Ava to the potty and as I was getting her all cleaned up and off, this is the conversation that ensued:

Ava: “Do you have a gun in your hair?”

(I had my hair in my morning top knot. You know the one, a sort of pony tail but more of a really messy bun. The one you have before you take a shower and really “do” you hair. So I know my hair doesn’t look its best, but come on, people.)

Me: “What?! No!”

Ava, smiling: “What’s a gun?”

Well, thank goodness she had no idea what she was really talking about, but where in the world did that word come from and what prompted her to try it out at that moment?

Let’s Hear It For the Boy

In honor of Father’s Day this week, it’s a boy theme at I ♥ faces . I just happen to have one of those (a boy!), so I thought I’d participate. This is one of Binh eating the first of what the ice cream man had to offer of the season. And really, doesn’t the bib say it all?

Binh icecream

He reminds me of some sort of tiny Chip-n-Dale in his bib with no shirt! ;) Well, have fun with all the other entries. As always, I’m open to comments and criticism (no really, I am!).
