For Unto You Is Born This Day.. On Old MacDonald’s Farm?

When Ash got home from work the other day, we had dinner and then he went to play with the kids in their room for a little while before it was their bedtime. Now the way he plays with them and the way I play with them are two very different forms of play. The kids know there are things that are “daddy games”. Those are the ones that involve being thrown, tossed, or slammed in some way. The kids LOVE it, of course. Mommy games are mostly reading, cuddling, or some sort of pretend play in which everyone “plays nice”.

Ash was back in the room with the kids and I could naturally hear every single thing being said since they were all shouting and squealing. I heard Ava and Ash start singing “Old MacDonald”. Ash would sing the verses with animals that Ava prompted him to use. It sounded a little like this,

Ash: And on this farm he had a …

Ava: COW!

Ash: Cow, eeii, eeii, oooh, with a Moo Moo here..

This went on with cow, duck, pig , horse, and then I heard something strange.

Ash: And on this farm he had a..

Ash: (singing stops) Baby Jesus?

Ava: YEAAH!!

Ash: (singing resumes) And on this farm he had a Baby Jesus. Eeeii, eeeii, oohh. With a “waa, waa” here and a “waa, waa” there…

I guess a manger scene does look a little like Baby Jesus might be found on Old MacDonald’s farm…!

Merry Christmas, everybody! God Bless.

Old McDonald had a farm in Arkansas,
    eeii, eeii ooooh,
and on that farm he had an Ash,
    eeii, eeii, oooh,
with a Da, Da here, and a Da Da there…
    Just Joking!

Thank goodness it was Bethlehem instead of Little Rock!
