Ava Turns Three

Yesterday was Ava’s third birthday. We had 11 kids under 5 here for a princess birthday extravaganza. Ava was pink from head to toe with rings, necklaces, and a crown to top things off. I have no idea how I have raised such a diva when I consider myself to be pretty low maintenance.

The kids played outside on the swing set and with the sand and water table, then moved inside to wreck my house. We topped things off with food and cake, then had a craft (big foam bead necklaces) to wrap things up. I have no idea why I spent so much time the day before mopping and cleaning the house. When the party was over it looked like a big pink bomb went off in the living room and the kids bedrooms had quite literally every toy they own on the floor somewhere. And you know what? That’s just fine. I’m so glad Ava had a great time with her friends that we’d do it all again.

As I said in another post, Ava is in love with the Disney princesses. I don’t get the appeal, but I guess it’s all a part of Disney’s plan because they have princess everything and I think we now own it. I asked that our friends not bring gifts, but they did anyway and much of it was in theme with the princesses. Ash and I gave her the Disney World Castle with all the characters in doll house form. It was a huge hit. All the kids ran into her bedroom and started playing with it as soon as we got it out of the box. (which is, as you parents know, not an easy feat. Why do they put 1 million of those twisty ties on all kids toys?)

Here’s one picture of Ava on her birthday. I’ll try to do a three year post on her later. I have to tell you, she was wearing a big, fluffy skirt I got from the Disney Outlet on sale. It is a dark kinda’ hot pink that is really ruffle-y and has gold sparkles all over it. I mean, truly gaudy just like a little girl would love. Well, those gold sparkles were flying all over the place as she ran through he house. I told Ash she was leaving a trail of pixie dust in her wake. Today, there are sparkles on my couch, rugs, all over the floor…I went into our bathroom and told Ash, “hmm..I didn’t know Ava had been in here.” because of all theย glitterย on the floor.

AWESOME! she looks so grown up!

    did you make her cake?

I feel the same way about cleaning BEFORE events these days. B.c you just end up cleaning, again, right after it is over. It is odd the princess stuff has such a pull on little girls. I am in awe of it, actually.

    Happy Birthday (again) Ava!

First of all, LOVE the earrings, so will Tutu! Then I can’t believe either that you have a delicate, princess for a daughter. If I remember right, you were such a tomboy in your younger days. The only thing that was feminine and still is, lipstick. Just remember, when you look at that messy house, you have one year until it happens again.

Ava is three? When did that happen? Isn’t she supposed to be two forever or at least we see you next time? The birthday party sounds like a lot of fun.

    Belated Happy Birthday Ava. ๐Ÿ™‚

My daughter K was waaaay into the Disney Princesses, and it was before Disney had the brilliant idea to have all the princesses on things – I was always trying to get her to pick a favorite so I could have coordinated birthday stuff!

So wonderful to hear about a day in the life of you guys even if it was not a typical day…or perhaps fairy dust will become a standard if it grows on you. ๐Ÿ™‚ Great to see a picture of her older now too. I think I still picture her atround age one. Will you send me a picture of each of you so I can update my brain visually so it is not forever stuck in 2007/8…too long ago! Sigh! She’s really cute and I see a lot of each of you in her…stands to reason. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love you guys!! A huge birthday hug to Ava from me… update her on me, ok…the prayers of children are golden! Lauren
